As arbitrary as January 1st is for the start of a new year, I do like to use this time for reflection and renewal. (It aligns with the solstice anyway, kind of.) My company graciously allowed me to work at home for all of December and gave us a whopping seven days off, not counting the weekends. So I return to work tomorrow very refreshed.
A lot happened last year. We abruptly decided to leave San Francisco — the city where we met and married and partially raised our child — for the Sierra foothills; we hosted multiple international visitors; we went to Greece as alcohol-free vegans (think about that); and of course, sold one home, bought another in a manner that involved extreme financial risk and timing and fancy footwork. And I’m leaving out a lot.
Yet somehow, I kept the haiku postcard project going. The real truth, the secret there is, it’s actually the other way around. The haiku kept ME going.
I couldn’t have made it without their support. Believe me. When a project gives back more life energy than it demands, you know you’re onto something good.
Anyway, here are this week’s seven haiku, and where they got mailed to.

Well, there you have ‘em. I hope I’ve told you something good somewhere somehow. I hope I’ve helped make your day just a wee bit better.
And don’t forget, if you want me to mail you one of my haiku postcards, all you gotta do is ask.
An excellent set of Haiku. Not only do they bring you a little joy, but I am sure others also.
