My employer generously gave everyone the whole holiday week off, and man, we had plans. Big plans. Finally hang some paintings and pictures and mirrors, most of which have been leaning against the wall since the move-in two months ago. Re-cane that set of chairs we picked up for FREE off NextDoor. Migrate my soon-to-be-republished novel (the publisher closed operations, so republishing myself is a no-brainer) into Scrivener.
Right.
World Cup fever instead. I'm not real happy about the host nation (Qatar is not the most progressive of nations when it comes to basic human rights). But we couldn't not watch. My wife is Brazilian and not watching the Cup would be like, well, not watching the Cup.
So that's been my week. A football/soccer marathon, watching the 2AM games on DVR. Who played whom? It's all a jumble. All I know is that France is looking very good, very tight, very fast. Croatia is a powerhouse. It's sad to see such premier teams like Argentina and Germany struggling, though it's not sad to see some traditional underdogs triumph.
Anyway, those games aren't going to watch themselves. Here are this week's haiku, and where I mailed them to.

Whelp, that’s it. Don’t be surprised if there aren’t one or so dozen haiku about the World Cup in the next few weeks. And oh yeah, if you want a haiku postcard, all you gotta do is ask.
